"A world class facility in a stimulating intellectual environment" |
|
BTR is located
in The Stiller Centre for Biotechnology Commercialization, University
Research Park, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada.
BTR’s facilities include a spacious laboratory as well as meeting
and board rooms equipped for today’s telecommunication requirements.
The laboratory is fully equipped with standard biotech equipment
and tools for analysis, culturing, incubation, separation, filtration,
sterilization, etc. BTR has specialized equipment for bioprocess
engineering research.
|
|

|
BTR’s unique bio-process
development facility focuses on fermentation and cultivation techniques
and bioprocess
operation.
The research laboratory can accommodate culture studies from flask
to 10-L bioreactor scale. Bioreactors are equipped for operation in
continuous,
fed batch or batch modes and to monitor and control inlet gas mixing
and flow rates, cell density, off-gas emissions analysis for respiratory
quotient, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, oxygen uptake rate,
liquid mixing, shear rate, feed and dilution rate, etc. BTR performs
fermentation liquid analysis by HPLC for organic acids, glycerol,
ethanol
and carbohydrates in fermentation broth including hexose and pentose
sugars.
